Young Creatives is a creative opportunity for young people to connect with Queer History through creative weekly sessions.

This project is a collaboration between Cheshire Dance and Chester Pride, continuing from our success with Project #2: Queer Histories in Summer 2023. Weekly sessions focussed on community and creativity as a means to connect, express and create a variety of creative work, including banners, artwork, spoken word and more. This work was compiled into an exhibition which was displayed at Chester Pride in August 2023.

Upcoming sessions between January – April 2024 will be an opportunity for young LGBTQIA+ people aged 14-25 to take part in weekly arts workshops, connect with the local community and build relationships. The creative work will be culminated into an exhibition shown at Chester Pride 2024, and archived after by Cheshire Archives.

This is a youth-led project which will work towards ‘an exhibition’ – the content of which will be decided by the young people in sessions. We are keen to hear from creatives from all genres and experiences – so whether you want to develop your creative skills, try something new or connect with other young queer people, this is the space for you!

Sessions will take place between January and April 2024. The six sessions will include stories from local LGBTQ+ heroes and creative workshops from freelance guest artists.

This is a FREE project for young people to attend, and travel bursaries are available to attend sessions.
