This Saturday our friends Company Carpi are doing a NEW thing…
‘The Moon, Purgatory, The Serpent & The Stars’ by Company Carpi in collaboration with our wonderful Creative Director, Jane McLean!

This brand new contemporary dance piece pitches Dante’s Purgatorio against the cycles and shifts, the influences and the myths about our Moon through manifested tasks that might be impossible to fulfil. It’s anything but “a small step for a man”.

The work is created by the renowned Company Carpi, the partnership of choreographer Bettina Carpi and composer Gary Lloyd, in collaboration with Jane McLean, dance artist and Creative Director of Cheshire Dance.

The Moon, Purgatory, The Serpent & The Stars will be performed live by the trio in the South Transept with Luke Jerram’s Moon in a sweet echo of when Company Carpi last performed in the cathedral three years ago, with their One Dance UK Award-nominated work When You Light A Candle, You Also Cast A Shadow cast in the light of Luke’s Gaia

📆 Saturday 14 Feb, 1pm & 2pm
📍 Chester Cathedral South Transept.
“The music isn’t live – it’s made up of work that I’ve pieced together from my back catalogue, chiefly stuff from 1986, 1998, 2001… and yesterday (yes, Wednesday) and features a GORGEOUS poem by Jane… all presented in surround sound.” – Gary Lloyd, Company Carpi
Tickets are not required, there’s no booking, just get in touch with with Bettina Carpi or Gary Lloyd for all the info!
