Max Ashbrook

Max is an exciting interdisciplinary dance artist based in Cheshire whose passion for music, youth, and community drives his work forward.

With roots deeply embedded in hip hop and contemporary styles, Max has followed a unique pathway through his dance training. He joined the boys’ hip hop company Dope Male Performance Company (D.M.P.C) in 2015. From The Echo Arena in Liverpool to The Southbank in London and Now Northwich Festival, Max has performed various works with D.M.P.C, gaining valuable skills in choreography and performance.

In 2018, Max successfully joined the Centre of Advanced Training at The Lowry, where he developed creatively and technically under artists such as Jamaal Burkar and Bridget Fiske. He then carried this training forward, securing a place at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, where he completed his first year before transferring to the University of Salford and earning his BA (Hons) degree in Dance.

Now freelancing for Cheshire Dance, Max combines his professional and personal skills to pursue his passions for community and disability dance. He is the supporting artist on their Associate Artists programme, working closely with Ben Wilson and Jack Evans, while also DJing professionally across the North West under the name Max Mutant.

He continues to collaborate and create with other artists and musicians, appearing in works like UNITY with Gorilla Circus and Company Carpi at Now Northwich (2025). His connection to the UK music scene also supports ongoing multidisciplinary collaborations with bands, DJs, and artists.

Max aims to push boundaries within community-based projects and shine a light on places where the arts are less accessible, sharing his knowledge across a range of art forms.
