Wanna Dance? Programme Update

It’s been another busy 6 months for the ‘Wanna Dance?’ Artist In Residence Programme with our 1:1 sessions with people who use Vivo Care Choices services.

Central to the ‘Wanna Dance?’ programme is the desire to ask IF members of the Vivo community with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD) would like to dance and if so, how that dance might be. Most importantly, participants have been able to choose IF they would like to take part or not – and we have been sensitive to how they communicate their preferences to this.

Over the past six months at both Canal Street and Lightfoot Lodge, we have enjoyed working with new people who have been showing us how THEY like to dance. These sessions have provided some fabulous experiences for both the participants and the artists.

In other news, we are delighted share that we have secured funding from People’s Postcode Lottery and Marjory Boddy Trust to support the expansion of the project to Ellesmere Port’s Coronation Centre from October 2023, along with funding from Anne Duchess of Westminster Trust towards the continuation of ‘Wanna Dance?’ in Chester. This, coupled with continued support from Vivo Care Choices means that we can ensure that more people with PIMD can access bespoke dance experiences.
