Cheshire Dance is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual with a passion for dance and its impact on communities to join us as Dance Development Artist (Maternity Cover) for the Cheshire West and Chester (CWaC) Borough.

Working as part of the Cheshire Dance core team and in close partnership with CWaC Council, this role is central to the delivery of high-quality dance across the borough. While primarily focused on Cheshire West and Chester, the role also contributes to wider Cheshire and regional initiatives. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a small, supportive and committed team in a role that is both creative and varied. You’ll be responsible for managing and delivering our regular programme of dance activity, while also contributing to project development and growing your own artistic practice.

The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of Cheshire Dance’s ongoing creative programme within the borough. You will be responsible for implementing the Dance Development Plan for Cheshire West and Chester, ensuring that all activity aligns with the broader ambitions of our partnership with the local authority, and will also initiate and manage new projects that respond to the needs of specific communities and partner priorities.

We are looking for someone who is a confident and effective communicator, with strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be passionate about the role dance can play in society and committed to inclusive, community-responsive practice. A willingness to develop your own creative work is essential, as is an enthusiasm for supporting and collaborating with a diverse network of artists, participants and partners. We value qualities such as authenticity, openness, curiosity, adaptability and a strong sense of shared ownership in our work. This position is employed by Cheshire Dance and delivered in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council.

We particularly welcome expressions of interest from under-represented groups in dance and the arts.
