Call Out for Artists for No Dress Code Scratch Night

Deadline: June 24th, 2024

Apply to show your work at No Dress Code | Scratch Night from Yorkshire Dance

Friday 22 November 2024

Application Deadline: Monday 24 June 2024, 12:00pm

No Dress Code is an annual informal scratch night at Yorkshire Dance. Open to dance artists, working in Yorkshire, who are no longer in full-time education or training.

No Dress Code offers a supportive environment to gain audience feedback. After the performances, there are opportunities for discussion with local artists and audiences.

Yorkshire Dance will notify successful applicants by 1st July, allowing enough time for selected applicants to include No Dress Code as a public testing event within funding applications.

This year, No Dress Code is in partnership with Kala Sangam. Yorkshire Dance encourages applications from British people of South Asian descent or which develop South Asian dance as an art form.

Yorkshire Dance is looking for:

  • Works- in-progress. i.e. New work which has undertaken at least two weeks of research and development.
  • Performance, film or installation work created for a live audience.
  • Work suitable to programme in a studio or performance space.
  • Short pieces (5-15 minutes duration), with little or no previous audience exposure. Or an excerpt from a longer work still in development.
  • Work with minimal technical requirements due to quick turnarounds between performances.
  • Minimal props/set/equipment.
  • Works created by artists or companies based in Yorkshire or the North of England.

Each selected dance artist will receive a fee of £125 and studio space during the week of No Dress Code (if required and available).
