No Dress Code is Yorkshire Dance’s informal scratch night which offers dance artists (who are no longer in full time education or training), the opportunity to showcase works in progress and gain an insight from an audience’s perspective. By works in progress, it means new work which has already undertaken research and development and is being structured into a performance. Artists will be able to ask the audience questions which will be displayed in the space, to gain feedback in a relaxed setting.
This evening aims to bring together independent choreographers and dance companies from across the region to showcase their work in a supportive environment. No Dress Code will be a relaxed atmosphere with the opportunity for artists to gain insight from an audience’s perspective.
Yorkshire Dance is looking for:
Work or film created for a live audience
Work that can be programmed into a studio or performance space
Short new pieces, which have had little or no previous audience exposure, (or an excerpt from a longer work)
Works in progress that have had at least two weeks development in a studio
Proposals should be for pieces that are:
Between 5 – 15 minutes max in duration
Technically simple and adaptable to quick turnarounds
Self-supporting in terms of props/set/equipment
Application deadline: Monday 12th September, 9.00am.
Yorkshire Dance will provide each dance artist with £125 for taking part in No Dress Code. See more and apply here.
