Now Northwich 2019
What a blast!! Not only did Now Northwich come back for its second year with a stronger programme, with more on offer and a more ambitious headline evening procession, it also saw even more audiences come into town for the day. Once again, great partnership working, eye-catching performances from community and touring companies alike and a team spirit that moved mountains. Please note in the NN19 gallery, only 2 of 'The Weavers Tale' groups have full image consent. Also note some images were shared with us by other photographers or sourced online (see image filename).

Now Platform 2019
This year's Now Platform saw an ecclectic mix of shows from community and school groups, students and professionals alike. And what a finale thanks to Juba do Leao and Movema.

Tuckshop Dance Theatre's Neverland, hosted by Storyhouse. Choreographer Lauren Tucker self-produced this digital dance performance that explores the challenges and wonders of growing up in an online world.

Now Northwich 2018
We were blown away by the amazing partnership working, the quality of the performances, the amazing turnout and the dedication from alot of people who helped make Now Northwich such a success. See you next year!.

NOW Dance Platform Youth 2018
Hosted by Winsford Academy, NOW Dance Youth is a celebration of dance created by and with young people and involving numerous school and youth groups from Winsford and Northwich along with a few guests.

NOW Dance Platform June 2018
Hosted by the University of Chester Performing Arts Department, NOW Dance Platform is a celebration of Dance in Cheshire and the Creative Case for Diversity bringing together dancers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, both community and professional, to perform and share their passion for the art form.

Takeover June 2018
This is the 4th year of the project initiated by dance, theatre and digital collaborators at Cheshire Dance and Action Transport Theatre and celebrating the Creative Voice of Young People. Devised, written, filmed and performed by the young people who joined the Takeover residency during May/June half term.

Chester Zoo Wild Worlds Festival
Cheshire Dance was delighted to support Lauren Tucker in developing the SuperSenses project at Chester Zoo studying the behaviour of flamingos as part of their Wild Worlds Festival, alongside composer Gary Clarke, Frances Heap (costume) and dancers Josh Hawkins and Nicolette Whitley, DOPE boys and Homegrown Dance.

Inquiring Bodies 5
27th January 2018, University of Chester, Kingsway Campus. Our guest practitioners Baris Yazar, Funmi Adewole, Ella Mesma and Stella Subbiah delivered an inspiring day of movement and workshops.

NOW Dance Platform'17
4th May 2017 NOW Dance Festival is an annual celebration of Dance in Cheshire. The Festival provides a platform for community dance groups, dance in education, student dancers and professional artists. NOW Dance is delivered in partnership between Cheshire Dance and the University of Chester and supported by Cheshire West and Chester Council and Arts Council England.

The integrated morning workshop at the NOW Dance Festival, 4th May 2017 presented with Chester University. Featuring independent artists, Let's Connect, Fallen Angels, students and Cheshire Dance artists.

Inquiring Bodies 4
3rd Nov 2016, Manchester Metropolitan University, Crewe. Inquiring Bodies is a day for dance artists, where guest practitioners share their current inquiries into movement, the body and/or creative practice. Guest Artists included Yael Flexer, Katye Coe, Trude Cone, Tayla Wood and Rachel Freeman, Kate Jackson, Dan Lowenstein and Chris Owen. More info

NOW Dance Platform'16
27th April 2016 NOW Dance Platform presented with Chester University as part of Cheshire Dance's 40th Birthday year of celebrations. Featuring work by Joseph Raey Reid, Ane Ise Brogeland, Paige Lyons, Homegrown, Louise Gibbons, Ellie Vickers, Encompass Collective, Lauren Tucker and DOPE. Visit the NOW Dance project page.

Re:Wind Road to Rio
Cheshire Dance and Theatre in the Quarter collaborated with 35 young people from across 6 Blacon schools. This spring project raises awareness of a larger scale summer project to celebrate the 2016 Olympics in Rio. More info on Re-Wind.

Inquiring Bodies 3
15th Nov 2015, Plymouth University. Including:- 14th November 2015, 7.30pm 'Once more but different' - un-scripted, unchoreographed creativity from our guest artists. Inquiring Bodies is a day for dance artists, where guest practitioners share their own unique inquiries into movement, the body or creative practice. Guest Artists included Adam Benjamin, Mary Prestige, Seke Chimutengwende, Jacqueline McCormick, Rick Nodine and Amy Voris. More info.

RHS Tatton 2015
22nd - 26th July 2015, Cheshire Dance once again teamed up with Cabasa Carnival Arts to create the Great Carnival Parade for the RHS Flower Festival at Tatton Park. Lead Dance Artist, Louise Gibbons, worked with local groups costumed in giant silk butterfly wings and umbrellas adorned with fresh flowers. They were joined by live samba drummers for the parade and bandstand performances.

18th July 2015, Lion Salt Works. An immersive promenade performance that lead audiences around the newly restored Lion Salt Works. Dancers from Cheshire Young Carers, Cheshire Dance Youth Performance Group and D.O.P.E came together with lead artist, Grace Goulding and support artist Jack Robinson to devise this brand new work. CI Jam 2015
Cheshire Dance's second CI Jam residential in our USA/UK series, this year we welcomed Karen Nelson, Mary Prestidge and Rosalind Holgate Smith to lead. We went back to the delightful Conway Retreat Centre on Anglesey. Background info here.

Dancing with Older People - CPD
The learning continues. Carers from across Cheshire came together with the Cheshire Dance team and special guests, our older people's dance group at Beechmere, for a day of learning. More about our work in care settings here.

The Dancing Games Experience 15-17th Aug 2014
Cheshire Dance commission from The Just So Festival culminated in August. A fantastic week and a very popular event amongst participants and audiences. Come rain, wind and shine we danced on!. More about The Dancing Games here.

RHS Tatton Great Garden Parade July 2014
RHS Flower Show, Tatton. July 2014. Cheshire Dance and Cabasa Carnival Arts parade as butterflies and perform for the crowds and the sun did shine for 4 days. More about The Great Parade here.

In THIS Moment celebration

CI Jam 2014

Cheshire Dance's first CI Jam residential based on the Breitenbush model and this year lead by Jacqueline McCormick and Mary Prestidge at the delightful Conway Retreat Centre on Angelesey. Background info here.

Diverse Dance CPD

The Takeover project at Whitby Hall was an experimental combined arts project with young people in Ellesmere Port and a partnership between Cheshire Dance, Action Transport Theatre and Musical Routes, supported by Curious Minds and Brighter Sound. When's the next one?

In THIS Moment is a Dance and Health Project Celebrating the youthfulness of older and younger people. Two residential care centres, two local primary schools, lots of CPD for care staff and artists, two celebrations and a film. This first gallery shows a session in both care settings.

The Moment When... Chester

Embrace the Games Conference

A few snaps in preparation and in full flow. The 'embracers', which included the Cheshire Dance team, a cool bunch of independent artists and the Cheshire Dance Youth Performance Company, invaded the Embrace the Games conference at Tatton Park, 15th June, following Cheshire Dance's first camping residential.

Stir Performance Project on Watergate St, Chester, August '09
Oh boy, did we stir. Inspired by the waters of the Dee River that once brought trade ships and merchants right up to Water Gate and all the people looking that hidden treasure in Chester's independent retail quarter. Featuring the Stirrers group of professional dancers, the Mulberry Day Centre group and the youngsters group all the way from Creative Crewe. For more info on the project go here.

Cheshire East Dance Showcase 5th & 6th May '09
Another cracking couple of days at the Crewe Lyceum. It was particularly notable once again, the diverse range of groups performing.

Stride'09 Performances 23rd & 24th March
School and community groups come together to perform at the new Winsford Lifestyle Centre as part of Cheshire Dance's ConfiDance programme, a partnership project with the local authority and Vale Royal School Sport Partnership.

Torifune Butoh-sha residency Feb/Mar '08
An intensive month of training for the newly formed Cheshire Community Butoh Group, who performed alongside Japan-based Torifune Butoh-Sha in site based performances and the UK premiere of Hinomoto at the Brindley.
