A partnership between Movema and Cheshire Dance, the Wildfire Rising Associate Artist Development Programme presents the Inquiring Bodies Series. This associate artist development programme aims to remove barriers of inequality by investing in Global Majority dance artists in the northwest.
Inquiring Bodies is a full day event by dance artists, for dance artists. Inquiring Bodies feature guest artists who identify as Global Majority who invite others to engage in their current research, the questions they’re asking themselves and their emerging interests.
Inquiring Bodies creates a mutually supportive environment for dance exploration and open dialogue.
This will be the concluding Inquiring Bodies event from the Wildfire Rising Programme. Throughout 2023, Cheshire Dance and Movema, have curated Inquiring Bodies Warrington (hosted by Culture Warrington’s Pyramid Parr Hall) and Inquiring Bodies Salford (hosted by the University of Salford).
We warmly welcome you to join us for the final Inquiring Bodies as part of the Wildfire Rising Programme.
This third and final event for 2023 will take place in Liverpool on Thursday 5 October 09:45 – 16:30 and will be hosted by Capoeira for All at John Archer Hall, 68 Upper Hill St, Liverpool L8 1YR.
Guest Artists for this event will be Akil Morgan and Ella Mesma. Akil’s inquiry is inspired by Capoeira, movement, reggae, sound and self; the workshop will explore movement as healing, knowing and expression in our complexity, community and common humanity. Ella’s inquiry explores a combination of movement, mindfulness and wellbeing practices – all of which help Ella create the best environment for creativity.

Bursaries for Global Majority Artists
For Inquiring Bodies, we have a small amount of £100 bursaries for Global Majority Artists to attend. If we receive more requests than we are able to fund, preference will be given to artists who have not previously received a Wildfire Rising Bursary. This is because we feel it is important that as many artists as possible are able to access this professional development programme.
The deadline to request a bursary is Wednesday 21st September, we will contact you on Friday 22nd September to inform you whether you have been allocated a bursary or not.
If we are not able to allocate you a bursary this time, we still encourage you to attend. The event is free for all dance artists. You can request a bursary in the Registration Form.
