Inquiring Bodies is an event by dance artists, for dance artists, which creates a mutually supportive environment for exploration and open dialogue. We aim to create a safe and supportive space where both participant artists and Guest Artists can offer, share and investigate together.
For 2024, Inquiring Bodies from Cheshire Dance is being led by Cai Tomos who will explore ‘Ways of Listening’.
Listening is like kaleidoscope, a fractal made up of multiple streams of information arriving through our senses in each moment. Listening moves in multiple directions at once, simultaneously out to the world, and back, towards ourselves.
For many of us at times of life, the balance may get disrupted. We may feel pulled by caring for those communities we serve, and our own needs to care for ourselves. In this way, our own creative practice can act as a ballast and an anchor, following our own desire for play, for no other reason than attending to pleasure. Our own creativity act can be a place to rest our attention, a shelter of sorts against the speed of the world and its demands, a place to gather again, resource and reclaim that which may have got lost a little on our way.
The event will be a day of allowing our own inner rhythms to guide us in a creative context. Moving between making, resting, being in conversation, and dancing what needs to be danced.
Who is it for?:
Inquiring Bodies with Cai Tomos is for experienced dancers/movers with a practice in dance/arts and health and a desire to engage in dialogue and enquiry into this practice.
