Crossing Point - A Cross Curricular Dance Project for Schools in Cheshire

January 2022 with performances in March 2022

Crossing Point provides an opportunity for young people to develop dance skills, deepen curriculum knowledge of a chosen topic and perform – with supplementary teacher training to embed dance into pupil’s learning and development with confidence. The project will culminate in a performance screening that will be shared across participating schools.

Crossing Point is different to other projects of its kind as there is a large focus on working with class teachers to build their confidence at embedding the art form cross curriculum. There is additional teacher training available to ensure dance is weave into pupil’s learning and development.

Project Overview:

  • - 10 sessions, of which x6 will be delivered with two dance artists (a lead artist and a support artist) with the class teacher participating/observing and x4 sessions, in which the class teacher will lead whilst being supported by Cheshire Dance artists.

  • - Exploration of a cross curricular theme to work in line with your planned curriculum map.

  • - CPD for class teachers of up to two hours – time blocks to be agreed between artists and teachers. This CPD can be flexibly tailored to your current needs.
  • - Filming of final performance.

  • - Two film screenings opportunities – a screening for the whole school and an evening screening* for class parents.

  • - A copy of the film for your records and the option* for parents to purchase a copy of the production.
* A small additional fee may be charged to parents to cover production/administration costs.

Dance & Education During COVID-19

"We have loved having Cheshire Dance in school. They are professional and understanding of the current climate and are constantly providing unique ways to bring dance to life in school, whilst keeping safety as a priority. The children have made so much progress in dance and the teachers have valued the expert coaching to help inform their own teaching. Thank you!"
