Cheshire Dance Youth Groups

Here's a great opportunity to get serious about your dancing. Cheshire Dance's youth companies love to work hard and have fun at the same time. These groups get to perform in some wonderful locations and often in collaboration with professional choreographers and other professional dancers. Membership is a great stepping stone into the dance profession, many are also part of the Lowry's Centre for Advanced Training. We are currently running 4 youth groups.

All groups are given the opportunity to engage with National Youth Dance projects and acheive accredited qualifications through Arts Award (UCAS points available as you climb Arts Award scale). See professional work and attend events like 'Move It' and have the opportunity to work with professional artists.

Cheshire Dance is always on hand to give advice and support for those that wish to pursue further education or a career in dance. Cheshire Dance is a great place to start and we will always promote many opportunities across the youth dance sector.

1. Dope Crew- Boys aged 11-17

Cheshire Dance’s boy’s crew has been running for 3 years now under the leadership of Jack Robinson.

What Dope Crew have been upto..

Since the Cultural Olympiad, the crew have created 2 new pieces of choreography; ‘Underpass,’ & ‘Dedication’, one of which was also used to create a dance film. After submitting both pieces to Youth Dance England’s U.Dance event, the boys were selected to perform at the regional platform in in 2013 & 2014 and went on to represent the North West with Underpass at the National U.Dance 2013 event in Leeds.  This is the biggest youth dance event in the country. Not only did the boys perform, but they also received workshops from industry professionals from around the world. For three years running, these boys have worked hard and achieved so much and continue to grow.

Following their involvement in last year’s Just So Festival, performing alongside professional dancers in ‘The Dancing Games,’ the boys are keen to build on their success;
They have recruited new members and began a ‘development’ company for young boys wanting to train in the street and breaking dance styles. In growing, they are keen to break into the Breakin’ Convention scene, invite guest artists to work with them and expand boy’s access to dancing.
