Dance To Health Call out for Assistant Dance Artists & Peer Motivators

Dance to Health is a national falls prevention dance programme for older people led by Aesop. Combining evidence and physiotherapy with the creativity, expression and energy of dance, it reduces the risk of an older person having a fall. Cheshire Dance is partnered with Aesop and Cheshire East Public Health to deliver this programme in Cheshire East.  We are in the process of setting up 6 different sessions in Cheshire East at various locations (tbc) and require Assistant Dance Artists and Peer Motivators to work on these programmes. Each of the 6 programmes involves one dance session a week over an initial period of 6 months (followed by maintenance programmes.)

Assistant Dance Artists will work alongside the PSI (Postural Stability Instructor) trained Dance Artists in each location, assisting older people with the dance work, enabling greater participation and engagement with the programme.  The Assistant Dance Artists will also play a key role in the national evaluation that is happening for Dance to Health – which will include some additional time outside of the session each week liaising with participants and Cheshire Dance.
These are contracted positions paid at a rate of £63.75 per session (some travel expenses are also available.)

Peer Motivators need to be mature / older people themselves with a keen interest and / or experience in dance. They will play a vital role in ‘motivating’ and keeping the older people on track with the programmes. It is hoped that the Peer Motivators will play an active role in the success and longevity of Dance to Health groups.
The Peer Motivator roles are voluntary positions but will receive a ‘per diem’ of £15 per day.

We are doing a call out to artists and potential Peer Motivators to attend a ‘further information and practical dance session with older people’

Date of this will be Thursday 30th November
At : Wishing Well Project, The George’s Community Centre, West Street, Crewe, CW2 8SL from 10am-12:15pm

More information about both of these roles go to the attached information sheets.

The main aim is to find interested artists and volunteers to fill the above roles on the Dance to Health programme in Cheshire East, however, Cheshire Dance have a growing Dance and Older people programme (including regular community sessions, dance and dementia work and work in hospitals and care homes) and are therefore very interested in meeting artists who are working in, or are interested in developing their skills in this area.

To register to attend  on Thursday 30th November, please fill out the Google form  by Thursday 23rd November:
