Disappearing Acts

The enquiry/workshop draws on ideas and movement explorations and tasks from my recent production 'Disappearing Acts'. Appropriating Peggy Pelan's notion of the 'unseen' or 'unsayable', that which evades representation, I'm interested in the ways in which dance or embodiment offer both the visible and invisible, simultaneously interior and exterior experiences. I'm interested in playing with how the moving body itself can suggest disappearance particularly within the duet form. What images and emotions this brings to the fore and what implications this might have in terms of meaning, when framed within the political threads suggested by the work 'disappearing acts'.
