Simon Whitehead is a Movement Artist based in rural Wales. His works respond to circumstance through movement and image and may manifest as solo actions or social choreographies, often working with the public, other artists, animals and places.

In 2013 Whitehead received a Major Creative Wales Award to develop his studio practice and a curatorial role to create contemporary performance and dance events in his home village of Abercych,Pembrokeshire. An International dance film festival BODIES IN LAND took place there in May 2014.

Simon has collaborated with Melbourne-based sound artist Barnaby Oliver for over 20 years. Whitehead and Oliver are currently collaborating on a large site performance THE CALLING TREE, with Choreographer Rosemary Lee in a large oak tree in Betws y Coed, N.Wales, for August 2014. They recently received a Jerwood Research Award for Choreography for this project.
