More Reasons to Dance Network

A Practice Sharing and Artist Development network for dancers with disabilities and those facilitating/creating dance with disabled dancers.

This is the 11 Million Reasons to Dance Legacy in Cheshire, Merseyside and the wider North West.

‘More Reasons to Dance’

The network is open to those representing organisations in the North West who work with dancers with disabilities as well as to independent artists with disabilities and those who facilitate work with disabled dancers. To join the network please email hello@cheshiredance.org

For 2019 the network has identified three key strands of work:


1. Building a dance and disability community in the North West

  • * Spaces to dance together

  • * Opportunities to experiences different spaces

  • * Opportunities to propose, set up and lead different things

2. Individual and small group development pathways

  • * Opportunities to support individuals/small groups practice

  • * Supporting people to go further with their dancing

  • * Connecting people from different venues/organizations

  • * Performance creation

3. Events

  • * Half and Full day events

  • * Celebration/performance

  • * Kaleidoscope festival at Storyhouse as one focal point of the year

The network is currently being supported through legacy funding from People Dancing’s 11 Million Reasons to Dance project.


It is self-organising and artist-led.

The founding partners are:

Cheshire Dance, Blueroom at The Bluecoat, Fallen Angels and Dance Syndrome alongside independent artists and dancers from Vivo Care Choices.
