Project Brief
The 20 past 12 Dance was part of a national 2012 Games project and was celebrated locally through dance during National Schools Sports Week. It was open to school & community groups anywhere, groups of employees, whole staff teams, groups of friends, families, even plucky soloists. It took place in a wide range of different locations (at your town hall, council HQ, indoor market, the racecourse, libraries, in the park, school fields, in your office, at home, in the garden. Anywhere you liked!).  The 20 Past 12 dance sequence was promoted across the whole of Cheshire and Warrington.

2012 Games Inspired

20 past 12 is a 2012 Olympic initiative and is being celebrated primarily through the National School Sports Week. In delivering the project locally, we are keen to uphold the Olympic values throughout the project:-

  • Inviting the world to join the project. Quite literally, anyone can take part, if you can access the film.

  • Aim to inspire young people in particular.

  • The legacy of the project is a collective ambition to do it again whilst encouraging participants to join local classes and continue their interest in dance.

Supported / Promoted by

20 past 12 is a National Young Ambassadors project taking place during Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week, supported by the Youth Sport Trust.

In delivering the event locally Cheshire Dance is supported by The Cheshire and Warrington School Sport Partnership Consortium, Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West & Chester Council, Warrington Borough Council, Arts Council England North West, Central & Eastern Cheshire PCT, Chester Festivals and Visit Chester & Cheshire as part of the sub-regional Embrace the Games initiative and Let’s Dance with Change4Life.

The idea to use dance to celebrate 20 past 12 locally originally came from a group of Young Ambassadors from the Macclesfield School Sport Partnership.
